CALM & REGULATE
THERAPY
Helping adults to feel calmer, supported and connected to themselves.
Trauma-informed somatic therapy for anxiety, overwhelm, trauma and ADHD emotional dysregulation - UK Online therapy sessions and in-person therapy in Aldershot.
You might be here because…
Your mind feels busy and won’t switch off
You’re overwhelmed, tense or on edge
Past experiences keep replaying
You’re exhausted from holding everything together
You feel disconnected from yourself
You want to feel calmer, grounded and more like yourself
None of this means you’re “too much” or failing. It’s simply your nervous system doing its best to cope with stress, trauma, or long-term overwhelm.
Therapy gives you the space to slow down, feel understood, and learn how to regulate instead of just “push through”

FAQs

This type of therapy explores what is going on in the body. They can call this a body up approach where your body is communicating a sensation and it is explored to help release stuck emotions. Normally once the energy that is thwarted is released a mental clarification can come next. This works well with trauma or people who cant cognitively work out the reasons for their distress.
Sometimes we can talk through trauma and it still doesn’t process or get better, in this case somatic work can get deeper into what may have been stored.
Sometimes the mind disconnects from the body because the body was not a safe place. This is about repairing that body and mind relationship to find a sense of safety in the body and freedom.

Anxiety is not only experienced in the mind — it is also felt in the body and nervous system. You may notice it as constant worry, racing thoughts, tension, overwhelm, difficulty relaxing or feeling stuck in “fight or flight” mode.
Somatic therapy is a body-based approach that helps you become more aware of how anxiety is held physically, while gently supporting your nervous system to feel safer and more regulated.
Rather than focusing only on thoughts, somatic therapy may involve noticing physical sensations, patterns of tension, breathing, emotional responses and stress reactions within the body. Over time, this can help you feel calmer, more grounded and better able to cope with difficult emotions and situations.
Somatic therapy can be especially helpful if anxiety feels persistent, overwhelming or connected to stress, trauma or long-term emotional pressure.

This depends on your therapy goals and how long you would like to come. Some clients work with a set number of sessions, and we set realistic goals within them. Other clients work open ended until they feel their therapy goals have been met.
-
Ideally sessions should be weekly. This is because at first it can take time to gain some stability and a week can sometimes feel a long time in between processing. Sometimes this isn’t financially viable or possible with schedules and therefore some clients choose bi-weekly. Any longer than this the work can be too fragmented and can be difficult to get any therapy depth as the sessions can tend to be more of a catch up.

Yes — online therapy can be just as effective as in-person therapy for many people.
Working online offers a flexible and accessible way to access support from the comfort of your own space, which can sometimes help people feel more relaxed and able to open up.
Online therapy can be particularly helpful for anxiety, overwhelm, burnout, emotional dysregulation and ongoing stress, as it allows you to engage in therapy within the environment where you spend much of your daily life.
Somatic therapy can also work well online. Sessions can still include grounding, nervous system awareness and gentle body-based approaches, adapted in a way that feels safe and supportive for you.
All you need is a private space, a stable internet connection and a device with a camera and microphone.
-
Having a goal you would like to get out of therapy is important but that can be discussed together on an initial session. Sometimes clients like to make notes in the week of things they may want to talk about, but nothing is expected or required.
